Where it all began.
Every good renovation story starts the same way: a big idea, some mild terror, and usually a glass of wine. Ours did too.
The seed for our popular podcast (Rip It Up: the Renovations Podcast) was planted over dinner and wine with friends on Jenny’s birthday. One friend was starting a renovation, and we found ourselves giving her all the advice we wished we’d had ourselves. At one point she stopped us and said, “You two need to write this down. Or record it.” So we did.
We had both renovated old houses through the depths of Covid, leaning heavily on each other for support and advice, and we learned a lot the hard way. Then, in a twist we could never have imagined, we met each other on the national stage as finalists in RTÉ Home of the Year 2021.
Neither of us set out to make renovation advice our job. But demand for our 1:1 guidance quickly outgrew the hours in the day. So instead of helping one homeowner at a time, we decided to help thousands - by launching a podcast that made renovation feel less overwhelming and far more relatable.
Since then, the podcast has taken on a life of its own, growing a loyal audience and fuelling vibrant Instagram communities through @workerscottage and @victorianrathmines. From that momentum, the HomePage was born.

Jenny Sheahan
BSc Experimental Physics, NUI Galway · MSc Human Computer Interaction with Ergonomics, UCL
Jenny blends analytical rigour with a deep understanding of how people actually live in, and interact with, their homes. Her background in physics and ergonomics, combined with strategy and project management experience gained at Accenture, means she cuts through the noise with evidence-based advice that respects both the science and the human side of renovating.
Jenny is now full-time with The HomePage, contributes weekly to Newstalk’s Home Squad, and writes the weekly Home Truths renovation and interiors column for the Irish Examiner.
Book a 1:1 with JennyAnd yes – just to add a little spice – Jenny went on to win Ireland's Home of the Year 2021, beating Kate in the final, live on national television. Kate's absolutely over it. Really.
